ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: Nairobi, Kenya

This guided 9-day Kenya Safari starts in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. When you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your friendly driver is there to welcome you to Africa. The driver helps you with your luggage and escorts you to the safari vehicle. After checking into the hotel and settling in you are free to relax and rest after your trip or venture out and explore the bustling capital city.

 

Day 2: Nairobi to Lake Naivasha, Kenya

Start your day with an early breakfast at the hotel in Nairobi. Then your guide takes you on a short tour of the city. You’ll visit historical highlights and local attractions such as the Giraffe Centre, the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, and the Karen Blixen Museum. This brief sightseeing tour of Nairobi includes a hot lunch at the Karen Blixen Museum. After lunch, it is time to say goodbye to Kenya’s capital city and travel northwest to Lake Naivasha. Spend the night at your safari lodge on the shores of Lake Naivasha, ending the day off with sundowners beside the beautiful lake.

 

Day 3: Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Start the day with an early breakfast at the safari lodge beside Lake Naivasha. Then you have the option of taking an optional two-hour boat trip on Lake Naivasha (at extra cost). The boat trip is a great way to explore this scenic freshwater lake and spot some of the birds and animals found here. Lake Naivasha is home to a wide variety of wild animals, birds, and freshwater fish. You are sure to see hippos on the boat trip as the lake hosts an abundance of these large mammals. This Great Rift Valley Lake is a birder’s paradise attracting numerous fish-eating birds so keep your eyes peeled. After the optional Lake Naivasha boat trip, travel southwest to Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s leading safari destination. Our scenic drive to the world-famous Masai Mara takes you via Narok where we pause for lunch. Pass through rural villages and the beautiful Great Rift Valley along the way, so sit back and enjoy the scenery. As you travel into the Maasai territory of Kenya, look out for the red-robed Maasai warriors tending their livestock along the road. This afternoon you enter the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, the highlight of your Kenya Safari. Entering Masai Mara, the game viewing adventure begins! One of Africa’s best national parks, Masai Mara is home to the Big 5 of Africa – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo, along with an abundance of other wild animals. Masai Mara is also renowned for its abundant birdlife, hosting over 402 bird species, including resident and migratory birds. Your first game drive takes us to one of two 4-star Kenya safari lodges inside Masai Mara National Reserve. Reaching your Masai Mara safari lodge you have time to settle in and freshen up before drinks and dinner followed by a relaxing evening in the heart of the game-rich African bush.

 

Day 4: Masai Mara Safari, Kenya

Day four of your Kenya Safari is dedicated to discovering the wonders of Masai Mara! Start your action-packed day off with an early morning game drive, stopping to enjoy a picnic breakfast out in the wilderness. After your morning game viewing adventures, return to your safari lodge where you are free to relax and rest. A hot lunch is served at the lodge and later in the afternoon embark on another thrilling game drive in Masai Mara. End your unforgettable day on safari in Masai Mara off with sundowners and a hearty dinner at your comfortable Kenya safari lodge.

 

Day 5: Masai Mara to Nairobi, Kenya

Start the day with an early breakfast at the safari lodge before heading out into the wildlife-rich Masai Mara. The morning is spent exploring Masai Mara on a rewarding game drive, soaking up the idyllic African safari landscapes and watching wildlife. After your memorable 4×4 game drive, return to your safari lodge in Masai Mara for a hot lunch. Then it is time to pack up and say farewell to the epic Masai Mara National Reserve. As we exit the national park, you get to enjoy a final game drive, one last chance to spot some of the abundant wildlife found here. Next, we stop at a Masai Manyattas (traditional homestead) near Masai Mara Reserve. You have the option of touring the Masai Manyattas (at extra cost) to experience the traditional African culture of Kenya’s Masai tribe and learn about their traditional way of life that has not changed for centuries. Later in the afternoon, drive back to Nairobi via Narok county enjoying spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley en-route. Settle into your comfortable en-suite room and enjoy dinner at the well-equipped hotel in Nairobi on night fifth of your Kenya Safari.

 

Day 6: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park, Kenya

After an early breakfast in Nairobi, your budget Kenya Safari takes you south towards to the Kenya-Tanzania border. Your next destination is Kenya’s second most popular safari destination, Amboseli National Park. Arrive at the Park in time for lunch and later set off on a scenic game drive in Amboseli National Park, located on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in the neighbouring Tanzania. Amboseli is known as the best place in Africa to get up close to free-roaming elephants, including large bull elephants with impressive tusks. The park is renowned for its photogenic scenery with Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, providing a beautiful backdrop for wildlife photos. explore the varied habitats of Amboseli on an afternoon game drive. Keep a lookout for leopards, cheetahs, lions, elephants, and buffalos. Other sightings include wild dogs, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, kudu, baboons, crocodiles, and many others. This top Kenya national park is also home to over 600 species of birds. After your exciting game drive in Amboseli Park, return to your comfortable safari lodge for dinner and an evening of relaxation.

 

Day 7: Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park, Kenya

Day seven of your Kenya Safari starts with an early breakfast at the safari lodge inside Amboseli National Park. Then make your way out of Amboseli, taking a final game drive en-route. From Amboseli, we drive southeast to Tsavo West National Park. A scenic 2 to 3-hour journey through wild and rugged landscapes brings you to the Tsavo West Park. Famed for its pair of man-eating lions that hunted over 100 railway workers in 1898, Tsavo West is a wild and vast protected area. Enter this vast wilderness area at about noon and embark on your first game drive. Tsavo West hosts a wide range of animals so keep your eyes open as we proceed to our safari lodge where we have lunch. Later in the afternoon, head out on another rewarding game drive in Tsavo West which incorporates a wide variety of habitats. Landscapes vary from swampy marshes and clear-water springs to open grasslands, rocky outcrops, and acacia woodlands. As you drive, you will get to see different habitats of this beautiful, wild park. Here you’ll find dramatic landscapes with volcanic rock formations. Tsavo West offers outstanding game viewing with abundant wildlife and bird populations scattered across its diverse landscapes. Animals sighted here include elephants, rhinos, hippos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffalos, and more. Bird species include the threatened corncrake and near-threatened Basra reed warbler. In the late afternoon, return to your safari lodge for a laid-back evening in this rugged wilderness area. Tsavo is known for its spectacular sunsets so sit back and enjoy mother nature’s show before dinner and a good night’s rest.

 

Day 8: Tsavo East National Park, Kenya

Following an early breakfast at the safari lodge before hitting the road. Leave your lodge in Tsavo West; embark on a game drive that takes you into Tsavo East National Park. Together the neighbouring Tsavo East and West national parks form one of the largest national parks in the world. Tsavo East is Kenya’s largest national park covering about 13,747 km² (5,308 sq. mi²) of semi-arid wilderness. The park is even less developed and wilder than Tsavo West, offering a remote African safari experience. In the afternoon, reach your next 4-star Kenya safari lodge in the heart of Tsavo East National Park. After settling in, have lunch at the remote safari lodge. Later embark on an afternoon game drive in crowd-free Tsavo East, featuring the largest solidified lava flow in the world. At the end of the day, make your way back to the comfortable safari lodge for dinner and a restful evening in the wilderness.

 

Day 9: Tsavo East to Nairobi, Kenya

The final morning of your Kenya Safari starts with breakfast at the safari lodge in Tsavo East. Then venture back out into the uncrowded wilderness area of Tsavo East National Park. As you exit the national park, get to enjoy one last game drive en-route. Leaving Tsavo Park, travel towards Mombasa and the Nairobi Highway. Your long drive back to Nairobi takes us northwest via Voi, Makindu, Sultan Hamud, and the Athi River. In the late evening, arrive in Nairobi where this 9-day Kenya Safari to Masai Mara, Naivasha, Amboseli & Tsavo comes to an end.
