TOUR OVERVIEW

Our 6 days Uganda safari with Queen Elizabeth & Bwindi is a safari that takes you to two of Uganda’s amazing national parks. Enjoy gorilla trekking in the Bwindi impenetrable Rainforest a home to half of the world’s surviving population Mountain Gorillas being part of an important scientific conservation programme. Continue with your journey to Queen Elizabeth National a home of the popular tree-climbing lion and in addition, the Uganda Kob, other gazelle species, elephant, monkeys, hippos, chimpanzees and buffaloes among others, enjoy game drives, amazing afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga channel and a spectacular scenery of the sunset on Lake Edward.

ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International AirPort.

Our driver guide will pick you up from the Airport. Meet and greet and then transfer you to your accommodation for lunch or snack and rest as you prepare for the next day’s journey.

 

Day 2: Drive from Kampala to Kisoro

Pick up from your accommodation after breakfast for your transfer to the famous Bwindi impenetrable National park, you will have a stop at the equator for the water Experience and a visit to the craft shops where you could buy some souvenirs. Proceed and have lunch en-route after which you will continue up to Bwindi. This park is mostly famous for the rare mountain gorillas and the drive to the park is incredibly scenic, passing through various local villages and the lush green countryside & hills, which characterize so much of southwestern Uganda. Once you are in the forest park, it is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. It provides habitat for around 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.

 

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking- Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest National Park

Today will be an extra ordinary day since it is when you are going to have the Gorilla Experience. After an early breakfast with packed lunch, head out for a briefing from your ranger guide and get started with this amazing activity of searching for the Mountain Gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This can take a couple of hours or a whole day depending on the location of the apes. Keep an eye out for forest species such as buffaloes, elephants, black fronted duikers and bush bucks. It is such a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many other species. After a well-earned trip with the gorillas, you will drive back to your accommodation; rest your tired legs from the gorilla experience! Dinner and overstay in your lodge.

 

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Today you will transfer to the famous Queen Elizabeth National park. The Park covers an area of about 1978 km2; its position provides a magnificent view of the rift valley floor that occupies Lake Edward and Gorge. The park has one of the highest bio diversity rating of any national park in the world as its well known to be habitat of about 95 mammals along with 612 species of birds. It is also one of the excellent treasures of Uganda and named after UK’s Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Uganda in 1954. As you get into the park, you will be able to see the escapements of Rwenzori Mountain Crater Lakes, rift valley and spot some animals on the roadside. Over 95 species of mammals and 600 species of birds have been recorded at this vast park. On your arrival. You will relax at the Lodge.

 

Day 5: Morning Game drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise–Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you go for your first game drive through the park. Your guide will help you spot the plethora of wildlife found in the Park. You will be able to spot a lot of African animal wildlife like: elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different species of antelope and many tropical birds. They are all there! After lunch, you will take a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see many hippos (more than you can possibly imagine!), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see: Buffalo, Crocodile, bathing Elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.

 

Day 6: Optional Game Drive & Transfer back to Kampala

After your breakfast, you could have an optional game drive before your transfer to Kampala. You will have lunch en-route and proceed with your journey up to Kampala or Entebbe where your driver will drop you. We trust that your trip will be memorable!
